In addition, Beauty Industry West (BIW) is proud to honor Nyakio Grieco (pronounced Neh-Kay-Oh) as the BIW Entrepreneur of the Year. Nyakio is a trailblazing beauty entrepreneur and advocate for clean, inclusive beauty that serves all skin types, tones, and needs.
As a veteran beauty founder, Nyakio has launched two successful businesses: her award-winning brand nyakio™, inspired by her family’s Kenyan roots, and Thirteen Lune, an inclusive e-commerce platform highlighting beauty brands created by BIPOC founders. In partnership with JC Penney, Thirteen Lune has expanded to over 600 stores nationwide, offering a unique shop-in-shop experience.
Nyakio’s latest venture, Relevant, is a clean, science-led skincare brand designed for all skin tones and types. By working with a diverse team of chemists, she ensures that her products, formulated with superfruits and actives, deliver outstanding results. Most recently, Relevant expanded into the cosmetics space, introducing products with skincare benefits that cater to a wide range of skin tones, particularly prioritizing consumers who have been historically underserved.
